On 13th of March 1996, Detective Constable Scott, Customs Officer Peter Siep, Federal Police Agent Steven Hill and Pilot John Bell, were on a Customs and Federal Police drug surveillance exercise when their Cessna 337 crashed near Mount Manypeaks, north-east of Albany, killing all on board.
The officers were searching for some drums discovered by a bushwalker who reported his find when he returned to the area and found they had been opened and emptied.
The investigation centred on the nation's biggest detected cannabis importation, the smuggling of about 13 tonnes of compressed Thai cannabis heads into Fremantle in a fishing boat.
The aircraft wreckage was located at 4.45pm about 100m from the beach in inaccessible area
Detective Constable Scott received a Police funeral with full honours.
