On Saturday 27th of November 2004, Senior Constable Pearson and Senior Constable Harding were conducting patrols on the Bussell Highway near Capel, south of Bunbury. 

At approximately 10.00am, whilst attempting to stop a speeding motorist, their vehicle collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of Senior Constable Pearson and serious injuries to Senior Constable Harding.
