On the 23rd of October 1954, Constable Morton and his family were traveling to his new posting in Nungarin.

At about eight miles south of Cunderdin, Constable Morton’s car skidded and overturned, he was thrown through the fabric roof and died at the scene.   

Also within the car was Constable Morton’s wife, his two young children, and his father, they all survived the crash.
