On the 6th of February 1949, Constable McDonald died in a traffic crash at Wuraga, near Yalgoo.

Constable McDonald was travelling from Mullewa Police Station to Yalgoo Police Station when it appears his Police motorcycle collided with an object protruding from the road causing him to lose control and crash. 

A truck driver stopped and found Constable McDonald dead at the scene.
