On Wednesday 25th of October 2000, at about 3pm, Detective Senior Constable Jenkins and his colleague were traveling back to Moora Police Station when their vehicle left the road near Dandaragan and collided with a tree. 

Detective Senior Constable Jenkins was conveyed to hospital but died due to his injuries on 27th of October 2000.

Detective Senior Constable Jenkins was given a Police funeral with full honours. 

Detective Senior Constable Jenkins is survived by his wife, Kylie, and two children.
