Details:
On the 14 March 1903, Mounted Constable Hamley, stationed at Roebourne at the time, was found dead on the rocks, near Port Sampson.
A Mr Edney, a local horse hunter, discovered the Constable's horse with the saddle on, near Cossack, and reported the matter to the Police who immediately instigated a search.
Constable Hamely had been sent to Port Sampson, appears to have attempted to cross a very deep creek with a strong fast flowing current, he was washed off his horse and drowned.
