Cause of Death: Fell from his horse

Details:

On 28th of October 1834, during the Pinjara Massacre of Aboriginal people, Superintendent Ellis fell from his horse after being hit by a spear, he died from his injuries on 11th November 1834. 

Superintendent Ellis was the first to be appointed to commissioned rank in a WA Police establishment he was as the Principal Superintendent of Mounted Police and also the first WA Police officer to die on duty.
