On the 22nd of November 1988, at about 2.45am, Detective Senior Constable Douglas and Senior Constable Oswald of the 79 Division. Were on duty when their unmarked Police car veered off the road and collided with a tree near the entrance of Saw Avenue, Kings Park.

The collision tragically killed both officers.

There were no witnesses and the full circumstances of the crash are unknown.
