Details:
On the 16th of June 1890, Sergeant Troy and Constable Pollard were entering a camp, between Wyndham and the Kimberley Gold Field, when Constable Pollard tripped and accidently discharged his pistol, the shot entered his left buttock and thigh.
Sergeant Troy died from his wounds, near Hells Gate (on the Wyndham side), and was temporarily buried on the banks of McPhee Creek at the junction of the Old and New Roads.
Sergeant Troy's family arranged for his body to be exhumed and reburied in York Cemetery.
