On the 22nd of November 1988, at about 2.45am, Detective Senior Constable Oswald and Senior Constable Douglas of the 79 Division. Were on duty when their unmarked Police vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree near the entrance of Saw Avenue, Kings Park.

The collision tragically killed both officers.

There were no witnesses and the full circumstances of the crash are unknown.
