Details:
On the 1st of June 1993, Constable Knight commenced traffic duties at the Kalamunda Traffic Office, he then drove to Maida Vale to commence speed detection duties on Gooseberry Hill Road.
At 8.40am, a vehicle traveling in a westerly direction towards Kalamunda Road was observed by Constable Knight, and was recorded on the handheld radar travelling at 90km/h.
Constable Knight stepped onto the roadway from the footpath and held a "Police Stop" sign up to alert the driver to pull over, the speeding vehicle then veered to the right and drove directly at Constable Knight, who was unable to move to safety.
The vehicle struck Constable Knight, killing him instantly.
The case against the driver Scott Anderson was that the death was caused by a deliberate act, however, the jury only convicted him of manslaughter.
Constable Knight was awarded a Police funeral with full honours.
Constable Knight is survived by his wife Maree and five young children.
