On 10th of June 1970, Constable Godfrey, was a Police motorcycle patrol officer based at Rockingham Traffic Office.

Constable Godfrey was riding his Police motorcycle to the Rockingham Traffic Office when he collided with a car whilst overtaking, this caused him to swerve directly into the path of an oncoming vehicle. 

Constable Godfrey was critically injured and died on the way to Royal Perth Hospital.
