Details:
On the 17th of October 1865, Constable Gee died from the injuries he previously sustained after being speared in the shoulder during an expedition to explore the northwest of Camden Harbour, led by Captain Sholl.
The party were traveling by small boat, but when they arrived on land they noticed several local people hiding behind rocks who attacked the group as they went ashore. The party returned to their vessel, but Constable Gee was speared in the shoulder.
During their escape, their boat capsized soon after, losing all their provisions and clothing. They group eventually swept ashore some ten miles from Camden Harbour, but with no provisions, clothes or shoes they took four days to trek to camp.
Constable Gee's injuries could not be properly dressed and his condition deteriorated, his wife, Mary, whilst heavily pregnant, nursed him for some days until he died on 17th October 1865.
Almost simultaneously at the time of his death, Mary delivered their baby girl.
Constable Gee was later buried on Sheep Island.
