Details:

On 12th of May 1940, Constable Buzza was Officer in Charge of his first station at Nannup. 

Constable Buzza had arrested twin brothers Ronald and Albert France, who were 19 years of age, for stealing 28 shillings, placing them in a cell together. They escaped after requesting Constable Buzza to open the cell door.  

Ronald France grabbed Constable Buzza's loaded revolver from the pouch hanging on the wall of the office, Constable Buzza managed to escape from the office but was shot in the back.

Constable Laurie Buzza died in Nannup Hospital on 6th of June 1940 from his injuries. 

Ronald France was found guilty and sent to prison, he was released on parole in 1955, but later returned to prison in 1958 for breaching his parole.  

Constable Buzza was given a Police funeral with full honours.
